New York’s Community Healthcare Network released online series More Than Just Sex, which features teens talking in plain language about safe sex, STDs, and pregnancy.
The project is a part of the Teens P.A.C.T. program of the Community Healthcare Network, a group of not-for-profit community health centers providing medical, dental and social services in neighborhoods throughout New York City. Teens P.A.C.T. trains approximately 20 youth Peer Leaders in a range of sexual health topics so that they can participate in an array of activities that make a difference in their communities.
The Importance of Condoms!, one of the episodes, “describes the possible consequences of having unprotected sex and addresses common reasons that some people do not want to use condoms.”
The PSA parodies a pharmaceutical drug advertisement: “Unprotected may not be for everyone,” the narrator says. “Side effects include genital warts, yellow or green discharge, swollen lymph nodes, painful urination, body aches, pregnancy….”
Other episodes include Teen Clinic Tour, Draw The Line, Respect the Line, and Face Your Fears.
