His last post as President of MySpace Music, a free streaming music joint venture with the major labels, ended in February, though Holt remained on as an advisor for News Corp. Before that Holt served as executive vice president of digital music for the MTV Networks Music & Logo Group.
But it my be Holt’s early days that drew him to the Maker opportunity. He once served as director of video production for Atlantic Records shooting live performances and even music videos themselves. Given that one of the major new channels for Maker will be the The Maker Music Network airing high quality music content, it’s likely Holt’s background will come in handy as the studio gets cozier with labels.
