Since we first reported popular movie parody series How It Should Have Ended‘s long term license and production deal with Starz Digital Media in November 2009, the animated series has spoofed movie endings for District 9, Twilight, and The Social Network, racking up over 250,000 subscribers and nearly 108 million views on YouTube alone.
Today Starz announced that it has renewed the Streamy Award winning series for a second season, and will expand the HISHE franchise with How It Should Have Ended: Video Games, which to be produced and distributed under a limited exclusive agreement with Machinima.com.
The first episode, “How Halo: Reach Should Have Ended,” launched today at Machinima’s YouTube channel. Machinima.com has an exclusive, five-week online run of each episode across Machinima.com’s content network. The show will then have secondary distribution alongside other HISHE videos on the HISHE homepage and its dedicated YouTube channel.
Starz Digital Media will distribute new, ad-supported HISHE episodes monthly as part of the HISHE second season. “Our partnership with Starz has allowed us the freedom to focus on developing great content for our fans while giving us the platform to reach a larger, global audience,” said Daniel Baxter, HISHE’s co-creator. “We are very excited to continue our partnership with Starz, parody more movies, and expand the franchise into video games.”
