John Lehr is ‘Jailbait’ for Crackle

This April Fools Day Sony’s Crackle is debuting Jailbait, an improvised comedy web series starring John Lehr (Cavemen, Ten Items or Less).

In this fish-out-of-water story, Lehr plays Ozzie, a naive perpetual optimist who is serving nine months in prison after accidentally buying drugs in a sting operation.

Jailbait also stars Bob Clendenin (Cougar Town), Tim Bagley ($#*! My Day Says), Kirk Ward, Evie Peck, Sandra Vergara and Michael Bailey Smith, and was created, written, and executive produced by John Lehr and Nancy Hower (the team behind TBS’ Ten Items or Less) and co-executive produced by Keith Raskin.

Jailbait is another unrestrained, hysterical comedy from Crackle that goes to places most television networks won’t,” said Eric Berger, Senior Vice President, Digital Networks for Sony Pictures Television. “John and Nancy’s no holds barred approach to comedy is sure to resonate with our viewers.” From Crackle’s press release:

The show chronicles Ozzie’s struggles in prison to fit in, make new friends and just plain survive in a world of gangs, serial killers, cavity searches and pen pals of indeterminate gender or intention.

The ten episode series will debut all at once on April 1, 2011 on Crackle.com, and will also be available in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
