Ok, technically this is a book launch web series, somewhat akin to Robin Cook’s Foreign Body drama last summer or better yet, Stephen King’s well-received animated series N. Spelling is, after all, a New York Times best-selling author so we learned, and the series shows on screen what she spent 256 pages writing about in the book of the same name.
Spelling doesn’t shy away from airing some of the family business, like when her mother, Candy Spelling, stopped talking to her after she dished out the family secrets in her tell-all book sTORI Telling
It’s actually Oxygen’s first-ever original web series, which comes as somewhat of a surprise. I’d expect to see several more coming from the pop-women’s network.
“Our audience’s appetite for everything Tori seems limitless,” said Jason Klarman, GM of Oxygen Media. “So launching our first web series based on one of her best selling books seemed like a no brainer.”
Also surprising is the fact that the Mommywood book, which came out back in April, is still #1 on Amazon right now for all entertainment biographies. Bios of Paul Newman and Michael J. Fox aren’t even close. So I suppose the web series will drive book sales, though after watching this series I’m not sure what you could have missed.
