Andrea Savage is a comedian that uses her assets (read: pretty face and rockin’ body) and gender normative stereotypes (read: women acting PMSy/catty and dudes being attracted to that pretty face and rockin’ body) to her advantage.
Since her stint as the official commentator for the Funny or Die College Comedy Tour, Savage has starred in a set of Funny or Die exclusives that play on her femininity, crude sexual proclivities, and the kind of sense of humor that you want to bottle like Powerthirst and drink up when attending a social gathering where you want everyone to think you’re awesome.
Savage and fellow Groundlings alum, Rachael Harris explore the shortcomings and Sapphic nature of female police enforcement in Lady Cops and come up with a number of provocative metaphors for great-tasting yogurt, but since getting knocked up some eight or so months ago, Savage’s distended figure has limited her roles.
What’s a female comedian to do when she’s showing? Make the most of her newly enhanced assets and create a comedy web series about a prego trying to get laid.
In the premiere episode of Casual Sex, Savage takes on the role of hormonal-fueled Rebecca opposite Rob Huebel’s (of Human Giant, Childrens’ Hospital, and Shutter Bugs) Mark.
Here’s to hoping Savage filmed plenty of Casual Sex while she’s still got a bun in the oven, or whoever put her in this physical state wants Irish twins. This show is off to too good a start to end once the baby’s delivered.
