Poor Debatage

As the presidential election heats up, so has the porridge.  Debate Porridge includes election remixes, original reporting and sharp insights on what the hell is really going on.

I find it difficult to believe that, though the election is a mere 60 days away, the two major candidates have not yet met face to face to discuss the mounting economic and political crises facing this country.  Insteaed, they rely on multi-million dollar organizations to spin messages through a narrative-obsessed national media that distorts even the simplest ideas.

The series was created by Mary Matthews of Pound Productions, a veteran video blogger who also created 39 Second Single and Idol Critic, and who skillfully edits Rocketboom.  That wry, earnest host is Anthony Atamanuik, a regular face at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

Alas, the Lincoln Douglas dialogue which embodies the change we so desire will not, afterall, repeat itself through two noble public servants turned cynical by a toxic system.

So, what are we to do to get the real, honest sense of how McCain or Obama might govern?  Mashups and snarky commentary, of course.

Not to worry: a multi-day, cross-content battle of lipstick-themed quips is certain to solve the most serious economic crisis in a generation.
