Two Online Reporters to Watch at the Democratic Convention

Today marks the opening of the 45th Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. And as The New York Times noted this weekend, “The Year of the Political Blogger Has Arrived.”

After years of toiling on the sidelines, the DNC has finally given the blogger community a seat at the table. Aaron Myers, the director of online communications for the DNCC told the NYTimes, “The goal is to bring down the walls of the convention and invite in an audience that’s as large as possible…Credentialing more bloggers opens up all sorts of new audiences.”

While CNN is installing a $100,000 camera rig for Sen. Obama’s speech at the Invesco Field in Denver, I suspect some less-expensive, but worthy material to be produced by web TV community during this following week.

Here are two reporters I’ll definitely be watching:

Josh Marshall of TPM and Veracifier will stream live reports from the floor of the convention center:

Marshall will undoubtedly provide sound political analysis with up-to-the-minute coverage of the convention.

Also to my delight, The New York Times sent the ever-odd, ever-charming David Carr to explore Denver behind the scenes:

Carr is an expert in pageantry and new media – stay tuned for his biting coverage from inside the convention.
