Kid-friendly channels are still dominating the U.S. Top 50, but among the most-watched YouTube hubs based in the United States, there’s still room for some high-achieving individual creators.

Media companies and creators alike are learning to think similarly when it comes to Shorts: No matter the nature of your content, it helps to be outlandish, it’s valuable if you can cross cultural lines, and of course, you have to post frequently.
The Top 5
Toys and Colors certainly posts a lot. The kid-friendly channel has developed a strong production pipeline that churns out all-ages uploads. In a typical week, Toys and Colors might release four or five long-form videos (most of which run for 16 minutes or longer) as well as a handful of Shorts. The multiformat approach serves it well, and it has now ranked #1 in the U.S. Top 50 for two consecutive weeks. Its latest seven-day tally, 603.2 million weekly views, pushed its lifetime YouTube traffic above 70 billion.
🥈 J House jr. held onto the #2 spot in the U.S. Top 50 after moving up to that position a week ago. The family-friendly hub has been one of YouTube’s breakout stories of 2024. With a simple approach that appeals to the hundreds of millions of children who frequent Shorts, J House has opened its doors to billions of views. It added 599.2 million of those views during the second full week of August, when it pushed its lifetime traffic above eight billion views. J House jr.’s growth may be a byproduct of the current Shorts climate, but its numbers are nevertheless impressive.
🥉 Alan Chikin Chow ensured that the 1-2-3 in this week’s U.S. Top 50 would be the same as it was seven days ago. The comedian re-ran his third-place finish during a week in which he collected 489.9 million weekly views. Chow is closely associated with Shorts and has been racking up hits on that format since its inception. His lifetime view count — 44.1 billion — is higher than the equivalent totals for the next two channels in the chart combined.
🌟 Zack D. Films moved up one spot to claim fourth place in the U.S. Top 50. His approach to Shorts is similar to the creator ranked directly behind him. Both he and Dylan Anderson combine viral moments with clear, concise narration that can easily translate across linguistic and cultural barriers. Zack D. Films’ current rise has been aided by MrBeast’s slight decline. Despite a mild viewership dip, Zack D. reached fourth place in the chart during a seven-day period in which he counted 432.3 million weekly views.
✨ The aforementioned Dylan Anderson knocked MrBeast out of this week’s U.S. top five entirely. Anderson’s Shorts videos led him to a fifth-place finish. It was a good time to pick up 394.2 million weekly views, and Anderson delivered the goods.
Top Gainers
There’s a lawyer in this week’s U.S. Top 50, and it’s not Legal Eagle or AttorneyTom. The courtroom king in question is Mike Mandell, the operator of the multiplatform channel known simply as Law by Mike.
YouTube law channels have carved out a niche for themselves by providing practical advice for poorly-versed citizens, and Mandell has covered every topic in the book on his way to billions of views and millions of subscribers. He is particularly big on TikTok, where his advice connects with more than eight million followers, but he has also grown rapidly on YouTube since arriving on the platform in 2020.
If there’s a legal gray area on your mind, Mandell has probably covered it on his channel. He has offered his opinion on everything from trending cases to MrBeast lawsuits while mixing in some Ryan Trahan-esque product tests as well. And that’s just his long-form videos — his Shorts cover everything from encounters with the police to strange legal corner cases.
That format accounts for the majority of his weekly YouTube traffic. One of Mandell’s Shorts has hauled in 67 million views all on its own.
By helping out people who might be breaking the law, Mandell has broken into the U.S. Top 50. The main Law By Mike channel earned 116.5 million weekly views during the second full week of August. That was good for a 38% week-over-week increase that moved him from 83rd place in the ranking up to 38th. (Side note: 38% increase, 83rd to 38th — numbers are weird!)
If you think that kind of growth should be illegal, well, it’s not. And even if it was, Mandell would probably find some argument that would allow him to skirt the charges.
Channel Distribution
This week, there are 35 YouTube Shorts channels in the U.S. Top 50.
