Some interesting narratives are brewing in our Global Top 50 chart. A channel that has served as the dominant force in this chart over the past few years seems to be ceding its position to some up-and-comers.

We can’t draw too many sweeping conclusions from just one chart, but we can take a look at the insights we drew from this week’s ranking of the world’s most-watched YouTube channels.
Chart Toppers
Anaya Kandhal is a typical impatient toddler. After ruling our Global Top 50 during April, the Indian kidfluencer spent the first two weeks of May outside the top spot. But for this upstart kid, nap time only lasted for a fortnight. Kandhal is now back up and at ’em in the Global Top 50; during the third week of May, her official channel got more YouTube views than any other. The family-friendly Shorts channel saw its weekly traffic go up to 885.9 million weekly views. That total was good for a week-over-week bounce of 43%.
The #2 channel in the Global Top 50 also enjoyed a big week-over-week viewership bump. KIMPRO is a former #1 finisher with a long pedigree in our charts. For as long as YouTube Shorts has existed, this Korean channel has dominated with some of the format’s most-watched videos. The home of couple content and “sigma girl” attitude picked up 646.4 million weekly views during our most recent seven-day measurement period. That was 48% more traffic than what KIMPRO pulled in during the previous week.
For T-Series, a second-place finish in the Global Top 50 represents something of an off week. As for a third-place finish? The Indian record label rarely falls that low in our worldwide ranking, but the third week of May turned out to be one of those bear periods. Even though T-Series received 628.7 million weekly views, it could not keep up with the two chart leaders and lost the #1 position it earned last week. There could be more news on the horizon for T-Series, which is set to lose its title as YouTube’s most subscribed channel (so long as MrBeast continues on his current pace).
KL BRO Biju Rithvik is back in a familiar position in the Global Top 50. The family-friendly Indian hub typically hovers around the #4 spot in our global chart, and that’s just where it wound up at the conclusion of our latest measurement period. With videos that predominantly feature the regional Indian language of Malayalam, KL BRO is a hit with kids across South Asia and a regular in our Tubefilter charts. Its most recent influx of traffic included 578.2 million weekly views. Will it reach 50 billion lifetime views before the end of 2024? At its current pace, that’s possible.
Diary of 4 rounds out this week’s global top five. The Canadian family channel moved up from ninth place after receiving 572.5 million weekly views and improving its traffic by 42% week-over-week.
Top Gainers
Cats are such a big in Turkey that entire documentaries have been made about the stray felines who roam across Istanbul. A cat is also involved in the channel that represented Turkey in this week’s Global Top 50, but that kitty’s role might not be what you expect.
Let’s take a look at COSEFNASTYA SHORTS to learn more about the cat in question. Like many of the channels that crack our Global Top 50, this one rose to prominence by carving out an audience of millions on TikTok. On YouTube, however, the couple channel has grown even bigger. Its audience of more than 4.5 million subscribers dwarfs its following on TikTok.
Those subscribers flock to COSEFNASTYA SHORTS to enjoy slickly-edited videos that often utilize the hottest meme formats of the current moment. The channel’s bread-and-butter, however, is its cat skits. The titular couple gets up to all sorts of hijinks alongside their pet, ranging from dire situations to silly games. Yep, turns out the YouTube audience still loves a furry friend, and this particular friend is just as much of a prankster as cat owners would expect.

By mixing a delightful animal with keen analysis of Shorts trends, COSEFNASTYA has become one of the premier short-form hubs in its home country. Turkey’s only representative in the Global Top 50 pushed itself up to 47th place in the ranking after increasing its traffic by 25% week-over-week. That uptick brought COSEFNASTYA SHORTS up to 252.4 million weekly views, a sum that rivaled long-time chart stalwarts like Zee TV and Apu Alone.
As long as the COSEFNASTYA couple keeps their meowing co-star around, their channel should become a mainstay in our rankings. I only have one piece of advice for them. Maybe if your cat is eating your pet hamster on multiple occasions, it’s time to stop adding pet hamsters to your family.
