A five-week run at the front of our Global Top 50 has ended. The most-watched channel in YouTube history broke that streak by getting more weekly views than any other channel on the platform.

Both of those top two channels are from the same country, and that nation continues to produce more chart-topping YouTube hubs than any other.
Chart Toppers
T-Series is on top of the YouTube game once again. The Indian record label summited our Global Top 50 during a week when it added 657.8 million weekly views. That was actually fewer views than what T-Series picked up a week ago, but since the previous #1 channel experienced a steeper fall, its compatriot was able to move into the top spot. T-Series still leads YouTube in terms of all-time views and subscribers, but change is coming in the latter category. MrBeast has moved within eight million subscribers of T-Series, and the gap is shrinking every day.
Anaya Kandhal had an incredible April in our Global Top 50, but her May hasn’t quite lived up to her high standards. The family creator based in India led our worldwide ranking for five consecutive weeks, but she fell back to the #2 position during the second week of May. The Kandhal family saw their traffic decline by 24% week-over-week on their main YouTube channel, but even with that dip, they counted 618.9 million weekly views and finished higher than all non-T-Series channels in the Global Top 50.
The run of Indian channels continued in the #3 position, which was occupied by KL Bro Biju Rithvik. Though its videos are not always in the same language as Anaya Kandhal’s, this family-oriented chart-topper has a lot in common with India’s other kid-friendly channels. It makes use of simple, moral themes and brings in billions of views by providing a daily dose of cuteness. Thanks to its massive audience in South Asia (it has more than 47 million subscribers), KL Bro collected 598.6 million weekly views to repeat the third-place finish it achieved a week ago.
StarPlus made it four out of four for the world’s most populous nation. Like the other Indian channels at the front of the Global Top 50, TV-adjacent StarPlus focuses on depth in its home country over a worldly breadth of multicultural viewers. Even though StarPlus is a rare long-form channel in the Global Top 50, it was able to increase its traffic by 6% week-over-week and move from seventh place in the world up to fourth. In total, StarPlus picked up 481.8 million weekly views during the second week of May.
The only U.S.-based channel in this week’s Global Top 50 is MaviGadget. With an array of short-form videos that depict machines, MaviGadget added 476.3 million views during the week that was.
Top Gainers
Console games like Apex Legends and Rainbow Six Siege may be big business in the United States, but in many countries, mobile titles are the hottest gaming properties. The accessibility of smartphones and tablets has allowed mobile-first games to rank among the most-played diversions in the world, and channels like Derdo.00 are thriving as a result.
All of Derdo’s most-watched YouTube videos feature the same setup. They’re all Shorts that depict gameplay for casual titles, with the titular creator’s face projected in the background. His smiling presence offers a bit of protection against content pirates, since viewers who are familiar with Derdo’s channel can use that visual clue to recognize his videos in the wild.
Derdo also attracts a wide range of viewers by mixing up his gameplay across a variety of genres. Sometimes, the Turkey-based creator tries his hand at some strategic content. In other cases, he lets off steam by mindlessly tapping away and doing something silly. On some occasions, the game interacts with his face in the background. When that happens, it’s a nice break from all the smiles and stares.
Derda’s consistent upload schedule and his focus on a rising video category have been key assets for him as he rises up our weekly charts. During the second week of May, Derda jumped into the Global Top 50 and made it all the way up to 19th place. His 298 million weekly views represented a week-over-week increase of 55%.
Interestingly, Derda’s lifetime YouTube haul still comes in under one billion lifetime views, since the Turkish creator is a recent convert from TikTok (where mobile gaming is big business). But YouTube is interested in catering to the casual gaming crowd as well, and creators like Derda will help the platform accomplish its goal. The more his smiling face shows up on Shorts, the happier YouTube should be.
Channel Distribution
Here’s a breakdown of the Top 50 Most Viewed channels this week in terms of their countries of origin:
- India: 16 channels in the Top 50.
- United States: 12 channels in the Top 50.
- Hong Kong: 4 channels in the Top 50.
- Pakistan, Japan, and Turkey: 2 channels in the Top 50.
- Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Czechia, El Salvador, France, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam: 1 channel each in the Top 50.
This week, 39 channels in the Top 50 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
