Twitch is laying off more staffers

Twitch employees are being hit with another round of layoffs–and some are reporting that while they haven’t been let go yet, they’ve been officially notified their jobs are “at risk.”

A source familiar with the matter told GamesIndustry.biz that layoffs are impacting Twitch’s customer experience department, and that the platform will be outsourcing those services to vendors instead of keeping them in-house.

We don’t know exactly how many staffers have been let go, but it appears whatever the number is now may grow in the future: One employee tweeted there was a “very very slim” chance they may still have their job, but said they’d “been officially noticed that my position is At Risk.”

Twitch–which is set to host its annual creator/fan gathering, TwitchCon, later this month–does not appear to have provided a timeline for when staffers may find out whether or not they still have a job.

This is Twitch’s second round of layoffs this year. GamesIndustry.biz‘s source said this round is smaller than the one that took place in March; that round was part of Amazon‘s decision to cut 9,000 employees across multiple divisions, including 400 staffers from Twitch.
