A longtime online video veteran is setting up shop at her own firm. Dana Block, who most recently served as the SVP of Digital Entertainment and Consumer Technology at Metro Public Relations, is founding a communication and consultancy agency called Buzzer PR.
In her two-decade career, Block has helped secure publicity for tech companies and emerging platforms. Her clients have included the online video gathering VidCon, digital fan fiction hub Wattpad, and gaming management firm Loaded. Block has also worked for the Streamy Awards, which are co-produced by Tubefilter and Dick Clark Productions.
At launch, Buzzer’s client list will include Loaded as well as additional digital media companies like Doing Things and Paris Hilton’s 11:11 Media. The new firm will also target next-generation platforms, partnering with virtual concert producer Wave.
Buzzer will also offer advice from an esteemed panel of online video notables. The company’s “Buzzer Collective” will be filled with PR professionals and agency partners who have been involved in the digital media industry since its early days.
That group will include Jennifer St. Clair, the former Head of Communications for Complex Networks; Folayo Lasaki, who has worked alongside Participant Media’s SoulPancake channel; and Lynda Dorf, the Founder of LD Communications & Marketing. Through its namesake collective, Buzzer will offer its client a brain trust that can “help ideate and execute high impact strategies that engage and activate,” according to a press release.
“As the entertainment and tech industries evolve and intersect, communications experts need to be both thinking differently in how they work with clients as well as how clients reach their key constituents,” Block said in a statement. “Buzzer and the Buzzer Collective allows me to be more integrated without worrying about overhead, while still being able to provide clients with everything they need to develop and extend their message to drive awareness, tune-in, and sales at scale.”
