Representatives from 21 different countries found spots in our latest chart, which measured the most-watch YouTube channels during the first full week of April. The most-represented country was the United States, which also produced this week’s chart-topper.
Chart Toppers
Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes is up to ten weeks in a row at #1. Though the American producer of family-friendly jingles fell behind a few other channels at the start of 2023, it has since picked up views at a rate no other hubs can match. Cocomelon fended off an outside bid for the #1 spot by bumping its traffic by 14% week-over-week. That brought it up to the YouTube-leading total of 594.1 million weekly views.
Last week was an anomaly for T-Series. The Indian record label, which usually finishes in either first or second place, fell all the way to fourth in the Global Top 50. Heading into April, T-Series is righting the ship. It’s back in second place after increasing its viewership by 12% week-over-week and topping out at 541.8 million weekly views. The last step in T-Series’ comeback would be eclipsing Cocomelon. That hasn’t happened for ten weeks, but the winds of the Global Top 50 could be shifting.
Once again, the highest-ranking YouTube Shorts creator in both the Global Top 50 and the U.S. Top 50 is Alan Chikin Chow. The comedy creator is a top draw on both YouTube and TikTok, and he has refined his sketches to fit both platforms. On YouTube, he added 405.5 million weekly views over our latest seven-day measurement period. Though he fell one spot from last week, Chow ended up in third place in the Global Top 50.
Sony SAB is right behind Alan Chikin Chow with 391.1 million weekly views. The TV-adjacent hub, which serves audiences in India and other South Asian regions, approached the front of our worldwide ranking before topping out in fourth place.
Ch3Thailand rounds out this week’s global top five. The East Asian news destination, which has long been a factor in the Global Top 50, counted 379.9 million weekly views.

Ryan HD just earned an interesting distinction in our Global Top 50. With 229.7 million weekly views, the South Africa-born Shorts star became the first creator from sub-Saharan Africa to crack the worldwide ranking this year.
Ryan HD is the pseudonym of Ryan Lombard, a sketch comedy creator who has experienced rapid growth since launching his YouTube channel in 2019. Lombard reached 39th place in the Global Top 50 at the start of April, and he got there by more than doubling his viewership week-over-week. Lombard only has a little more than 500 million lifetime views on YouTube, but his latest seven-day sum was high enough to top long-time chart stalwarts like Vlad & Niki and Kids Diana Show.
As the only South African creator in our Global Top 50, Lombard is a bit of an anomaly. However, his videos rely on classic short-form setups and a universal sense of nostalgia. If you grew up playing cards with your family or shining a flashlight in your face (because you were bored), then Lombard’s videos should stir something deep within you.
That clip, which counts 52 million views, is a big reason why Lombard has been able to rise up our Global Top 50. Even as YouTube Shorts unites creators from around the world, its recommendation algorithm encourages them to focus on universal tropes — especially within the comedy category.
Lombard’s ability to follow those trends has been crucial to his success. If you want to learn more about him (and discover where he got the name Ryan HD from) you can hit up his personal website.
