It’s been a whirlwind past couple of days for vlogger Casey Neistat, who just launched his first post-Beme business venture, 368 — a daily vlog in which he will also chronicle the launch of a collaborative creative space. Given his fondness for Twitch, however, Neistat found the time to fire up a Q&A stream about the New York-based project to provide some insight into how it will function.
Unlike YouTube Spaces, 368 will not have an open-door policy, Neistat says, but will instead initially serve him and his friends. Eventually, Neistat envisions the three-floor office as a WeWork of sorts. In terms of facilities, Neistat says he’s considering building two podcast studios, a screening room, a gaming streaming station, and a storefront-slash-museum that would be open to the public. The first step, he says, will be to set up the office and hire a studio manager to oversee 368 so that it isn’t solely dependent on his presence.
Neistat, who formerly helmed his daily vlogs singlehandedly, says that it’s been difficult splitting editing duties with his partner on 368, the South African filmmaker Dan Mace. (While Mace handles aesthetics and montages within each vlog, Neistat tends to drive the story). After just a handful of episodes, he says, they’re completely burned out, and still working on finding a healthy cadence.

The benefit of collaborating, however, is the knowledge that someone else will have had eyes on your work, Neistat explains, noting that some of his worst videos — like a commentary about the 2016 presidential election — resulted from feeling rushed. And Neistat wants 368 to have a decidedly different feel than his former vlogs, so he’s scrapped his old music library — which he describes as somewhat old-school and melancholy-leaning — in favor of a soundscape that has “sharper teeth.”
Over the course of the hourlong stream, Neistat also discussed his views on virtual reality (it’s amazing for gaming, but less so for other kinds of content), Fortnite (it’s a time vacuum), and his admiration for fellow daily vlogger David Dobrik. Check it out in full above.
