Amazon’s ‘Man In The High Castle’ Is Coming Back For Season Three

Amazon continues to construct its library of original programming, and as part of those efforts, it has renewed one of its most dependable building blocks. Man in the High Castle, an alternate-history series set in a universe in which the Axis Powers won World War II, will return for a third season.

Man in the High Castle, based on a Philip K. Dick book of the same, arrived in 2015. It quickly built up a devoted audience and drew for its fully-realized world and well-shaped characters. At the time when it was renewed for a second season, it was revealed to be Amazon’s most-watched original show.

A second season arrived in 2016, and now, just a few weeks after those episodes premiered, more are officially on the way. The most significant change that will affect the series concerns its showrunner. Frank Spotnitz, who was at the helm for seasons one and two, is out, and Eric Overmyer is in. Overmyer and Amazon have become regular collaborators; he also runs another one of the platform’s hit originals, the detective drama Bosch.

“As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons,” said Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama at Amazon Studios, in a press release. “Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not. We couldn’t be more excited to bring season three to customers in 2017.”

Additional information about Man in the High Castle’s third season will be revealed later this year.
