Netflix Sets Release Date For Thriller ‘Between’, Plans Staggered Episode Debut

Netflix said it would bring over 320 hours of original programming to the platform in 2015. Now, the streaming service has announced the release date of one of these pieces of content. Canadian survival thriller Between will debut on non-Canadian Netflix regions on May 21, 2015.

Between stars Jennette McCurdy (of iCarly and Sam & Cat fame) and tells the story of a town plagued with a deadly disease which mysteriously doesn’t affect people aged 21 and younger. McCurdy made the release date announcement for Netflix via her official Twitter account. The actress also made sure to include a 30-second trailer of the upcoming series using Twitter’s native video feature.

Netflix is doing something a little different in terms of Between’s release. Whereas a season for most of the streaming platform’s original series drop all at once (which quite a lot of binge-watching subscribers like), Netflix will release one hour-long episode of Between every week for six weeks. This allows Canada’s TV network Rogers Broadcasting and subscription service Shomi to release the series, as well, under the terms of the three-way deal with Netflix for Between.

Created by writer and director Michael McGowan (One Week, Still Mine), Between is produced by Don Carmody Television, Mulmur Feed Co., and Elevation Pictures Corp. McGowan executive produces alongside Carmody, David Cormican (Faces in the Crowd), and Elevation’s Naveen Prasad.

You can catch the first episode of Between on May 21 on Netflix if you live outside of Canada. The streaming platform will release the entire series for Canadian audiences in 2016.
