Netflix Sets Premiere Date For ‘Daredevil’, ‘Bloodline’, Other Originals

Netflix plans to release plenty more original series than just this month’s upcoming The Adventures of Puss in Boots. The streaming video-on-demand service has announced the launch dates for six original series including Marvel’s Daredevil and the family drama Bloodline from the creators of FX’s Emmy-winning Damages.

The first two series to arrive on the streaming video platform are programming titles aimed at children and young adults. The animated Ever After High: Spring Unsprung is based on Mattel’s popular doll franchise and will debut globally on February 6, 2015. The teen-centric Mako Mermaids live-action series about three mermaids who trade their fins for legs will premiere its second season on February 13 for all Netflix subscribers in North America, Latin America, Ireland, UK, the Nordics, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxumbourg.

The next series arriving on Netflix is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on March 6. Executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the show will follow Kimmy (played by Ellie Kemper) as she escapes a doomsday cult and starts a new life in a city she didn’t even think still existed – New York.

Netflix will release Bloodline two weeks later on March 20; the series starring top names like Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, and Sam Shepard will follow the Rayburn family as they deal with old, underlying family problems.

Additionally, Netflix is aiming for an April 10 premiere date for Daredevil. The series follows Marvel’s titular character, who is the superhero alter-ego of blind lawyer Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox, who recently teased the character’s new suit). About a month later on May 8, Netflix will debut Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as two 70-year-old psuedo-friends who must learn to get along for real when their husbands leave them for each other.

With the exception of Mako Mermaids, the rest of Netflix’s upcoming original series will be released on their respective dates around the world in all territories where Netflix is available.
