Netflix Snags A Documentary Executive Produced By Edward Norton

Netflix is continuing to add new documentaries to its streaming library. The video on-demand service has announced a March 6th release date for My Own Man, a film directed by David Sampliner and executive produced by Edward Norton.

Sampliner is best known for Dirty Work, a 2004 documentary where he explored three unusual careers: A bull semen collector, a sewage tank pumper, and an embalmer. This time, his work is decidedly more personal, as he explores his own masculinity in order to be a better father to his baby son. The film debuted in April 2014 at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Norton, who is one of the film’s four executive producers, recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Birdman. “My Own Man is as deeply personal as filmmaking can get,” he said in a press release. “You rarely see an artist document their own personal experience with such candor and simultaneously offer such deep insights into the very universal struggle to communicate within a family. It’s a film that lies within the emotional spectrum of great drama.”
