Drew Carey is High on Civil Liberties

The new host of the revered show, The Price is Right, has more to say than “come on down.”  Carey’s internet-tv project, Reason.tv, which we recently covered here, has some fascinating content of a decidedly libertarian bent.  In this recent installment, Carey explores the fascinating phenomenon of marijuana legalized for medicinal use in California.

“I think it’s clear by now that the federal government needs to reclassify marijuana. People who need it should be able to get it – safely and easily” Carey has said.

It’s a intriguing sub-culture, and an important political issue that deserves deeper exploration and conversation–but one that, unfortunately, has the potential to jeopardize a mainstream media career.  I’m happy to see that someone with Carey’s clout and celebrity is willing to take the hit.
