Obama Girl joins Next New Networks

BarelyPolitical.com, the internet-TV channel brought to fame by the viral video Obama Girl was recently acquired by Next New Networks for an undisclosed sum.

You’ve seen this at least twice, I know, but she expresses her politics so becomingly…

###The deal provides Next New Networks first political satire, though a sister site, Veracifier (Tilzy.TV Page), takes a more serious approach to politics.  In addition to politically-slanted music videos, Barely Political will begin to feature shorter daily videos and links to other political humor blogs.

Ben Relles, founder of BarelyPolitical, first found internet fame with Box in a Box a satire of the “Saturday Night Live” video Dick in a Box.  He says his website is primarily intended for entertainment, but told Hollywood Reporter that he has “a larger goal of getting people involved in politics in the run-up to next year’s elections.”

BarelyPolitical’s first project  as a  Next New Networks channel is “I Like a Boy” made with Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America.   Check it out…

BarelyPolitical is a clever brand with some brilliant viral videos, but I hope Next New Networks works to give the website a much needed user-experience boost.  Political satire is a popular space for online video, but Barely political has a distinctive style that promises to attract the slightly-less-than politically active.  We expect a happy marriage.
