Outdoor Channel, a cable network with programming “that captures the excitement” of hunting, fishing, Western lifestyle, off-road motor sports, adventure and other outdoor lifestyles has just launched a slick new broadband version chalk full of high-quality video content.
The video is delivered with Narrowstep, which uses a proprietary technology that mimics the traditional television experience. Video from OutdoorChannel.tv which features some stunning scenery, buffers quickly, toggles to full-screen seamlessly, and maintains a pretty high-quality picture. If you’re a mac user, however, you may face some difficulty (as I did). Narrowstep is still in the process of optimizing its player for the mac platform.
Users can watch whatever happens to be be playing upon launching the player, or they can choose from on-demand video listings from multiple categories. The overall viewser
experience is pretty good, but I would have liked to embed a clip right here (and, in so doing, potentially driven traffic back to their site), but Outdoor Channel does not have an embeddable video player.Outdoor channel is not the first to bring outdoors to the interweb. Jon Brunson Outdoors (Tilzy.tv Page) features a more personal, down-home approach to outdoor content.
More on the content as we delve deeper. In the meantime, I recommend the Adventures in Hawaii video in the Adventure category. Paragliding with beautiful women in Hawaii happens to be a lifelong dream of mine.
