YouTube Star PewDiePie’s Latest Game With ‘Goat Simulator’ Developer Is Based Around Physics

Despite his polarizing reputation, Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg maintains a legion of subscribers, and he has now delivered a new project to them. The YouTube star’s latest collaboration with Goat Simulator design Armin Ibrisagic is a game called Animal Super Squad, which challenges players to conquer its wacky, out-of-control physics.

Animal Super Squad, like Goat Simulator, uses its collision engine as a major selling point. The player must steer his or her animal avatar through a series of loopy levels that are riddled with obstacles. Failure results in epic bails that seem designed to entertain both players and viewers.

According to Kotaku, Kjellberg served as an advisor during Animal Super Squad‘s development and influenced the game’s creative direction. “Our game is a game about overcoming hardships and reaching your goals no matter what happens, even if the whole world is against you,” Ibrisagic told Kotaku. “Our user research on millennials has shown that players can best relate to a chicken riding downhill on a toilet on wheels being barely held together by duct-tape.”

Ibrisagic and Kjellberg’s latest collaboration is their second. Last year, they teamed up to launch PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, which offered a satirical look into the life on an online video star. Much has changed since then, with Kjellberg finding himself at the center of two controversies. In February, he drew accusations of anti-Semitism within his videos. Then, in September, he sparked a further firestorm after he used the n-word during one of his live streams. While those incidents have affected Kjellberg’s public perception, the size of his audience has not abated, as the PewDiePie YouTube channel currently has more than 57 million subscribers.

If you are not deterred by Kjellberg’s history, you can scoop up an early access copy of Animal Super Squad on Steam, where the game costs $9.99.
