YouTube has launched a site-wide social good campaign dubbed #HerVoiceIsMyVoice in honor of International Women’s Day today, which annually commemorates the fight for female rights.
Intended to share stories from inspirational women across the globe, YouTube is inviting viewers to share pertinent videos with the hashtag #HerVoiceIsMyVoice across social media. The platform also created its own video showcasing strong female voices throughout the YouTube ecosphere and beyond, featuring Lilly Singh, Issa Rae, Franchesca Ramsey, and more. “At YouTube, we believe that voices matter,” wrote chief marketing officer Danielle Tiedt in a company blog post. “We’re committed to fostering a community where everyone’s voice can be heard…the more we listen to and share each other’s stories, the more we can help empower women’s voices everywhere.”
In addition to the flagship YouTube site, YouTube Kids is also feteing Women’s History Month. The child-friendly platform tapped former United States Treasurer Rosie Rios to create a playlist honoring notable accomplishments by women in American history.
