Marseille Web Fest Announces Top Prize Winners, Led By ‘Dramaworld’ And ‘Whatever, Linda’

The Marseille Web Fest, a five-year-old digital film festival, has crowned the winners of the year’s best series in eight categories, with Dramaworld — a 10-episode series that follows a geeky college student who’s transported into a Korean drama — taking home the Grand Jury Prize. Whatever, Linda, a Canadian series about a woman who becomes the brains behind Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, won the award for Best Independent Series.

The winners (above), selected by an eight-person jury led by industry veteran Gilles Galud, were selected from a total of 25 series in contention.

In the Best Actress and Actor categories, Whatever, Linda star Annah Cheesman and Emmanuel Schwartz of the Canadian series L’Ecrivain Public took home top honors. Additionally, Gregory Beghin was named best director for the Belgian thriller Burkland, and Biswapati Sarkar won for best screenplay for TVF Pitchers, an Indian web series about the drama that ultimately ensues when four friends quit their day jobs to launch a startup.
