Smosh To Stream First Live Sketch Comedy Show From YouTube Space L.A. This Summer

Smosh stars Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox are hopping on the ever-buzzy live video bandwagon. The duo announced at VidCon this afternoon that they will star in their first-ever live sketch comedy show, titled Smosh Live!. Featuring all-new material and special guests, the show will be streamed from the YouTube Space Los Angeles on August 26.

Smosh Live! is being sponsored by chewing gum brand 5 Gum — which is also hosting a sweepstakes that will offer fans a chance to attend the performance in person. Select 5 Gum foil wrappers will feature truth or dare challenges, which fans can then document on social media using the hashtags #5truthordare and #vipsweepstakes for the chance to win tickets.

Prior to Smosh Live!, Smosh Games creator Jovenshire will host a pre-show giving viewers a peek behind the scenes. And, after the show, Smosh will play truth or dare with audience members and take questions from fans.

Smosh, the fifth most-subscribed channel on all of YouTube, celebrated its 10-year anniversary on the platform last year, when it premiered Smosh: The Movie. Padilla and Hecox were also made into wax figures by Madame Tussauds. And, yesterday evening, YouTube’s global head of original content Susanne Daniels announced that YouTube Red will be making an as-yet-untitled feature film inspired by Part Timers, Smosh’s hit scripted comedy series.
