Amazon Studios’ literary adaptation of Michael Connelly’s best-selling detective novels featuring the crime fiction exploits of an LAPD officer named after a 15th Century Dutch artist famous for the macabre will premiere just in time for Valentine’s Day. All ten episodes of Bosch are set to debut in the US, UK, and Germany to Amazon Prime members by way of Amazon Instant video on February 13, 2014.
The hour-long drama stars Titus Welliver (Sons of Anarchy, Argo) in the titular role as a the grizzled homicide detective with a helluva gut instinct, Harry Bosch (named after that other Harry Bosch) who’s in pursuit of the recently-escaped-from-custody confessed killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court on accusations he murdered another suspected killer in cold blood.
Welliver is joined on Bosch’s hunt for justice by Jamie Hector (Marlo from The Wire!) as Jerry Edgar, Amy Aquino (Being Human) as Lt.Grace Billets, Lance Reddick (Fringe, Daniels from The Wire!) as Deputy Chief Irvin Irving, and Annie Wersching (24,Extant) as Julia Brasher, with Sarah Clarke (24) as Eleanor Wish and Jason Gedrick (Luck) as Raynard Waits. Eric Overmyer (Treme, a consulting producer and writer on The Wire!, Homicide: Life on the Streets) adapted Connelly’s catalog of 19 Harry Bosch novels for Amazon with Overmyer, Connelly, and Henrik Bastin (The Killing, Burn Notice) on board as Executive Producers.

This isn’t the first time Connely’s work has been adapted to a live-action medium. His novel Blood Work was made into a feature-length film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood back in 2002 and another of his titles The Lincoln Lawyer was adapted for the big screen with Matthew McConaughey in the starring role back in 2011.
