Description: Funporium is a comedy, a puppet show, and a musical all rolled into one. Starring a mixed cast of puppets and humans, it takes place on the rundown set of a children’s edutainment program, which quickly devolves into a coarse mess once the lights go off. It joins a growing list of shows that feature lewd, adults-only puppets, which we can attribute to what could be called the “Avenue Q effect.”
Among the Funporium cast is Tara Strong, best known for her many cartoon voice credits as well as her recent work on Vine. In the Funporium pitch video, she sings a musical number about how important it is to help puppets find employment in the edutainment field, since they would otherwise be forced to turn tricks on the street.
Creator Bio: The mind behind Funporium belongs to E.B. Grzesiak, who, among other work, has served as a writer for children’s television.
Best Perk: $200 gets you a purse/handbag shaped like a puppet. Get ready for a lot of weird looks on public transit.
Why You Should Fund It: Funporium‘s 32-minute pilot is already shot, which means that the $30,000 its creators are asking for will cover the post-production needed to get it looking as high-quality as possible. The show’s creators, therefore, are setting out to make a puppet show of the utmost quality–and they are less than $13,000 from that goal.
More importantly, though, Funporium is setting out to be the most adorable show about turning tricks on the street. How can you say no to this face?
