Amazon Studios is looking to the world of Scandinavian fiction as inspiration for its next original series. Deadline learned that an untitled new show is in development at Amazon based on the popular mystery book series The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis.
The Boy in the Suitcase series tells the story of Nina Borg, a nurse whose friend Karin tips her off that a naked and drugged little boy is in a suitcase in the Copenhagen train station. After Karin disappears and is later found murdered, Borg begins a dangerous journey across Denmark to find out who the young boy is and who exactly is trying to track him down.
Kirsten Sheridan (writer of the film In America) will pen the script for Amazon’s unnamed Boy in the Suitcase adaptation. City Entertainment’s Joshua Maurer and Alixandre Witlin will executive produce.

Additionally, Amazon is aiming to round out its children’s programming lineup by onboarding a pilot from kids’ TV producers Sid and Marty Krofft.
No release date for Amazon’s new mystery series has been announced as of yet.
