‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Cast Reunites To Star In Netflix Series

Netflix made lots of Wet Hot American Summer fans very happy when it announced it would revive David Wains camp counselor film as a miniseries. Now, the streaming video-on-demand service has reportedly started production this week, with most of the film’s original cast on board.

If a report from Deadline is to be believed, Wain and Wet Hot film co-writer Michael Showalter have managed to reunite the ensemble cast to reprise their original roles. In an interview with Crave back in June 2014, Showalter said he and Wain “wouldn’t have wanted to [bring back Wet Hot American Summer] if we couldn’t get everybody.”

Apparently, Showalter and Wain “did their due diligence” and managed to align the schedules of most of the cast from the 2001 film. Netflix’s 8-episode limited series will see fan favorites grace the digital screen, including Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Meloni, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Kevin Sussman, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, H. Jon Benjamin, David Hyde Pierce, and Joe Lo Truglio.

Wain will reprise his role as director and will also executive produce along with Showalter. Howard Bernstein, Jonathan Stern, and Peter Principato are set to produce. Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere date for the Wet Hot American Summer series as of yet.
