David Krumholtz Dresses Like An Old Lady To Tell You The Weather

David Krumholtz is using the art of drag to become an online weatherman. The actor, perhaps best known for his lead role in the CBS series Numb3rs, has launched WeatherFrom.com, a website where he tells users their local weather while dressed as a stereotypical Jewish grandma named Gigi.

Visitors to WeatherFrom.com are prompted to enter their zip code. They then receive one of Gigi’s 35 meteorological forecasts, each of which lasts somewhere between 30 seconds and two minutes. Today, I learned that the sunny conditions with a chance of rain are akin to every day in Boca Raton. Here’s Gigi herself explaining what the project is all about:

In an introductory video for the website, Krumholtz explained that it takes him more than four hours to put on Gigi’s makeup. “The character’s kind of based on my grandmother, and your grandmother, and grandmothers all over the world who have something to say and maybe they don’t say it in the nicest way all the time,” he explained.

There are plenty of novel ways to check the weather (this NSFW option may be my favorite), but only one of those methods will also provide nostalgic memories of holiday’s at grandma’s house. Thank you, David Krumholtz, for reminding us all of those salad days.
