Maker Studios Partner Steve Greene Fires Shots At Ray William Johnson

We’ve heard a lot from Ray William Johnson about his recent dispute with Maker Studios, but the eminent YouTube distribution company has been fairly quiet on the matter. Still, some of Maker’s partners are standing up for their studio and launching their own attacks against RayWJ. Maker creator Steve Greene of SteveGreeneComedy has released a video featuring his Catt Lauer hand puppet where he takes viewers on a studio tour.

During the tour, Greene introduces viewers to a caged monkey named “Ray’s AdSense account” and holds a conversation with a man wearing a Danny Zappin mask who is too busy brewing his witch’s cauldron to respond to RayWJ’s allegations. Though Greene claims to know both RayWJ and Zappin (and has hosted =3 in the past, he comes off as very skeptical with regard to the #1 subscribed creator’s accusations.

In lieu of an official statement from Maker, Greene’s video does well to offer a cogent (and very funny) rebuttal to RayWJ’s side of the story. It certainly helps that Greene can hide behind a veil of comedy; though he’s gotten noticeable backlash in his comments section from =3 fanboys, his 276,000 subscribers have seen his video as a fun diversion rather than a biting critique of YouTube’s most popular creator.

Greene’s channel is emblazoned with a large troll face, so it’s clear what his intention is. In the end, while Greene is clearly in it for the lulz, his is still an interesting version of the recent events and a must-watch for those who want to get Maker’s side of the story.
