Digital Comedy Star Lele Pons Is Eyeing A Foray Into Music

Lele Pons may have made a name for herself as one of the world’s biggest digital comedians, but the 21-year-old is now eyeing a foray into music.

According to Billboard, Pons studied opera for four years and is increasingly pursuing projects that are adjacent to music — including co-starring in Camila Cabello’s music video for Havana, posting wildly popular dance videos to her Instagram page (which average over 10 million views apiece), presenting at the Latin Grammys, and crafting a Spotify playlist chock full of Latin, hip-hop, and dance tracks that currently counts over 170,000 followers.

Pons, who has also appeared in music videos for Blink 182 (She’s Out Of Her Mind) and Marshmello (Summer), is signed to Shots Studios — which is bound to bolster any forthcoming musical pursuits. Shots also reps Swedish DJ and producer Alesso as well as the Brazilian popstar Anitta. “They have an energy that just rubs off on everyone around them,” Pons tells Billboard of her colleagues. “Seeing how hard they work motivates me to push myself even more. They’re also great friends that have taught me so much about music and business.”

While Billboard hints that Pons has not released a single “yet,” the Venezuelan-American star’s career move comes at a time when Latin music is exploding on YouTube — thanks in no small part to Despacito, which was the first video in the platform’s history to surpass 4 billion views.

“I’ve always felt connected to music,” Pons, who was also the most-watched Instagram Stories producer of the year, tells Billboard. “I have some ideas and I’m grateful to have an amazing team and talented friends that want to help me make them a reality…The possibilities are endless and I’m excited to create some really cool musical content for everyone to see.”
