Mitú’s Accelerator Program Looks To “Empower The Next Generation” Of Latino Creators

Mitú works with several of the top stars in the online video world, and through its latest program, it wants to foster some fresh faces as well. The digital network, known for its focus on Latin-American content, has partnered with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s Bixel Exchange for its Accelerator program, which supports up-and-coming creators through workshops, boot camps, and other similar initiatives.

In addition to the Bixel Exchange, which works to “cultivate talent and empower entrepreneurs with the goal of creating a more prosperous Los Angeles,” Mitú’s accelerator is also receiving support from AnnenbergTech and the Annenberg Foundation as well as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s HIRE LA’s Youth initiative. “For years Latinos have been grossly underrepresented and stereotyped in the entertainment industry,” said Beatriz Acevedo, president and co-founder of Mitú, in a press release. “With Mitú’s Accelerator, we’re providing opportunities and empowering the next generation of multicultural storytellers and creators to have a more prominent and authentic voice in media.”

Mitú plans to accomplish that goal through a program that can “empower the next generation of Latino and Multicultural creators and emerging talent by providing opportunities in all facets of our industry.” Aspirants can apply to the Accelerator here.
