Casey Neistat Has Raised $77,000 For Red Nose Day To Combat Child Poverty

Daily vlogging forefather Casey Neistat is no stranger to using his massive platform for a greater good, and the 36-year-old’s latest altruistic venture is a fundraiser for Comic Relief — a British nonprofit that supports children in need across the U.S., Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

Neistat’s Facebook fundraiser, held in honor of Red Nose Day — a campaign from Comic Relief whose aim is to abolish child poverty — has already raised $77,000 and counting. (Neistat’s fans were so eager to donate that he blew past his initial $10,000 goal in a single day). The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will double the total amount raised after the campaign closes tonight at midnight.

To sweeten the deal, Neistat says he’ll be reaching out to select Facebook donors with special prizes to thank them for their support — including custom-made merch, skateboards, and artwork. Check out the campaign announcement video below:

Money will go to the Red Nose Day Fund, which provides safety, health, and educational resources for children. The $77,000 that Neistat has raised, for instance, could buy roughly 2 million meals and thousands of medical supplies for those in need, according to the nonprofit. All told, Red Nose Day, which kicked off on May 25, has raised more than $36 million and counting — with donations still pouring in.

Last month, Neistat and fellow influencers Jerome Jarre, Juanpa Zurita, and others, announced that they’d raised $2.5 million through their #LoveArmyForSomalia campaign, which was launched in response to a famine in East Africa.
