YouTube Stars Jack & Jack Team With Samsung To Promote New EP Through VR Videos

After becoming social media stars thanks in large part to their popular Vines, Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky — known collectively as Jack & Jack — have turned their attention to the world of music. Their second EP, Gone, arrived in May 2017, and thanks to the support of Samsung, they were able to promote it in an extraordinary way. A partnership with the tech company yielded music videos for each song on the record, including three 360-degree offerings made available through Samsung VR.

Gone is a concept album about the rise and fall of a relationship. “The lyrics and the videos convey the story,” said Gilinsky in a press release. “The first few tracks are about infatuation and falling for a girl. The later tracks are all about the breakup. It’s going to make our fans feel a specific way. If you’re in love or you’re dealing with heartbreak, there’s a song for you. We’ve been through all of that. It came from a real place.”

The heartfelt nature of Gone is complemented by a striking, impressive music video that runs for nearly 20 minutes and covers all five tracks on the EP. It can found on Jack & Jack’s newly minted VEVO channel.

For those who own a Samsung-friendly VR device, including those in the company’s Gear line, Jack & Jack’s music can be experienced in three dimensions. 360-degree music videos for two tracks from Gone, Distraction” and “Last Thing,” are currently available. A third, which features the song “2 Cigarettes,” is expected to arrive later in the summer.

Gone is Jack & Jack’s second EP. The two creators (who recently signed with talent agency CAA) previously offered up 2015’s Calibraska, which is in part an homage to their home state of Nebraska.
