Indie Spotlight: ‘Operation Amram’ Examines The Kidnapped Children Of Israel’s Past

We receive a ton of tips every day from independent creators, unaffiliated with any major motion picture studios, television networks, new media studios, or other well-funded online video entities. The Indie Spotlight is where we’ll write about and shout out to a select few of them and bring you up to speed on the great (and sometimes not-so-great) attention-grabbing series you probably haven’t heard about until now. Read previous installments here.

We rarely feature documentaries in this space, but there’s a lot of investigative work posted to YouTube, and the best of it deserves our attention. This week, we’re looking at Operation Amram, a series that looks at the political, cultural, and societal impact of Israel’s Yemenite Children Affair.

During the Yemenite Children Affair, which occurred in Israel’s early days, Jewish babies and toddlers (many of whom were of Yemeni descent, hence the name) disappeared. Some parents of captured children believe the youngsters were sold to other families. Operation Amram explores this complicated and difficult chapter of Israeli history from multiple angles in order to come closer to the truth about what went on and how the affair should be treated in the current day.
