The Rock’s Seven Bucks Digital Studios Announces Pilot Program Alongside Studio71

Seven Bucks Digital Studios, the online production company founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and his ex-wife and business partner, Dany Garcia, has launched a pilot program in partnership with the multi-channel network Studio71 to develop six original series.

All of the pilots, launching this year, will be produced by Seven Bucks and Studio71 — with whom Johnson also partnered on the launch of his buzzy YouTube channel. The first series, a scripted comedy created in collaboration with the popular comedy and fitness YouTube channel BroScienceLife, will consist of four 10-minute episodes, reports Variety. It will debut on Johnson’s YouTube channel.

In the still-untitled series, co-created by BroScienceLife founders Mike Tornabene and Gian Hunjan, a group of self-proclaimed fitness gurus will try to keep their gym open for business. Johnson and Garcia will serve as executive producers, alongside Erin Lardy of Seven Bucks and Studio71’s Dan Weinstein, Scott Brown, and Mo Darwiche. Tornabene and Hunjan’s manager, Chas Lacaillade, will also be an EP.

“Our fans love the premium content we put out on the channel each week,” Johnson told Variety, “whether it’s a recurring series like the infamous Rock Q&A or a collaboration with surprising partners like Millenials: The Musical…This pilot program will allow our channel to grow into new territories and change the way the game is played.”

Johson’s channel, which launched last July, currently counts 2.1 million subscribers. Johnson also has a YouTube Red series in the works titled Lifeline, about insurance agents who are sent into the future to prevent the accidental deaths of their clients.

Seven Bucks Digital Studios is the digital division of Johnson and Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions, which is behind movies like Baywatch and TV shows like HBO‘s Ballers.
