Otter Media, a joint venture between AT&T and The Chernin Group formed in 2014 to invest in the OTT space, has named digital video veteran Billy Parks EVP of creative and content strategy — a newly-created position.
In this role, Parks will work with companies in the Otter Media portfolio — including Fullscreen, Ellation, digital production studio Gunpowder & Sky, and Reese Witherspoon’s women-centric Hello Sunshine platform — to develop audience-driven content across all formats and channels. Parks will also oversee creative and production for AT&T Hello Lab, a branded content initiative from AT&T and Fullscreen.
Parks joins Otter Media from Fullscreen, where he has served as SVP of the company’s strategic content group for the past two years. Prior to that, Parks served as the chief content officer for digital studio Astronauts Wanted, as well as the EVP of digital production and programming for media holding company The Chernin Group. In his new role, Parks will report to Otter Media president Sarah Harden.
“[Billy’s] work at Fullscreen on programming such as Hello Lab, @SummerBreak, and SnapperHero for AT&T has centered on delivering future-focused content models that engage audiences across existing and emerging platforms,” Harden said in a statement. “We look forward to taking our relationship with him to the next level.”
“I am very excited to build on five years of close collaboration with some of the most talented and forward-thinking leaders in the media business,” added Parks, who began his career producing TV commercials for brands like P&G and the NFL as well as music videos for the likes of Beyoncé and Prince.
