Turner’s TBS, truTV, And Adult Swim To Create Original Shows Exclusively For Snapchat

Media giant Turner and Snapchat parent company Snap, Inc. have forged a new partnership by which Turner will bring additional content to Snapchat’s Discover platform. The deal also calls for coverage of Turner’s premium sporting events on Snapchat, and for the two companies to work together to develop original shows.

These originals will come from Turner’s buzzworthy portfolio of series and brands, according to a release, including TBS, Adult Swim, truTV, Great Big Story, and Super Deluxe. And while Turner’s CNN network already operates a channel within Snapchat’s Discover section of premium publisher content, a new Bleacher Report sports channel — which is already available in international markets — will launch in the U.S. on Jan. 4. At the same time, Turner said its CNN Discover channel would expand to include more daily content.

“This deal marks the latest strategic move for Turner to innovate within the digital arena and provide complementary viewing experiences for a younger, mobile-centric audience,” said Turner president David Levy in a statement.

And having covered the March Madness basketball tournament via its Live Stories section for the past two years, Snap’s VP of content, Nick Bell, said that Turner would be bringing even more sports content to the video platform, with behind-the-scenes videos and coverage from on-site correspondents of both the NCAA Division Men’s Basketball Championship and the PGA Championship,

Turner and Snapchat will also collaborate on advertising sales as part of the deal.
