Studio71 Partners With Two Canadian Food Channels To Launch New Vertical

Studio71 is going north of the border to find a community of culinary creators. The multi-channel network, which recently merged with Collective Digital Studios, has partnered with a pair of Canadian food channels–The Domestic Geek and Fidel Gastro–and has launched a new food vertical based in Toronto.

Both of Studio71’s new partners are based in Toronto, and they both post new videos multiple times per week. The Domestic Geek, whose real name is Sara Lynn Cauchon, is best known for concocting healthy and often-portable food and drink recipes, which she distributes to her 648,000 subscribers. Fidel Gastro, real name Matt Basile, has a smaller following, but a larger presence within the gastronomical community. He’s known for operating a Toronto-area food truck and for hosting a Cooking Channel TV show called Rebel Without A Kitchen.

“Matt and Sara Lynn are two of the top food disruptors in the space and we’re thrilled to have them on our growing network,” said Jordan Bortolotti, EVP of Canada for Studio71, in a press release. “We’ve had a great amount of success in other top consumer verticals such as comedy, beauty, music and family, and we see the same potential within the food space. We’re looking forward to signing more top creators and further expanding our footprint in this space.”

Basile and Cauchon won’t just be joining Studio71’s roster. They’ll also make use of a food-oriented production facility Basile opened in Toronto. The space is a 1500-foot kitchen studio that will be open to chefs and creators alike.

Basile and Cauchon are only the first two creators with whom Studio71 plans to partner as it pushes into Canada. Some of the network’s best known creators, including Lilly Singh and Harley Morenstein, hail from north of the border. In total, more than 1200 channels are partnered with with Studio71’s North American division.
