VHX Lets Creators Make Their Own Branded Video Apps

VHX has a new offering for creators looking to own their video distribution channels across a growing number of platforms. The pay-to-view-download-and-subscribe platform (that’s helping to self-distribute the revolution) has launched a branded app solution, allowing content makers to deliver their directly to audiences within the friendly confines of their own applications.

Previous to VHX’s new branded app solution, audiences had to watch their VHX subscriptions, purchased programming, and rented content by way of VHX’s own app. Now, creators using VHX to run their own video subscription services can launch their own custom apps across various platforms, including Apple TV, iPhone, Chromecast, Android, and Roku. The app solution, which has been in beta testing over the last few months with VHX partners Black&Sexy TV and Yoga with Adriene, includes support for browsing, subtitles, and offline playback on the iOS and Android versions.

“We’re excited to give content owners the power to launch apps on all the different devices that consumers are using to watch videos these days,” said Jamie Wilkinson, co-founder & CEO of VHX, in a release. “Creating your own apps can be a difficult and expensive process, especially if you don’t have an engineering or tech background. Our goal is to solve the technology problems so creators can focus on what they do best: making videos, building their brand and delighting their fans.”

“Before partnering with VHX to launch our subscription service and app, we tried creating a membership service through our website, which didn’t work the way that we wanted to,” added Chris Sharpe, CEO & Producer for Yoga with Adriene. “We used to spend a lot of time troubleshooting issues with our customers, but thanks to VHX, our customers are getting a great user experience.”

Wilkinson said new features like comments and in-app subscriptions will be added to the branded app offering in the future. You can get more information about VHX and its branded app solution at vhx.tv.
