Streamy Awards To Return With Live VH1 Broadcast On September 17th

The awards ceremony that honors the most talented and successful content creators from within the online video community is coming back for its fifth rendition, and this time, it will air on TV. The Streamy Awards, co-produced by Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter, will return on September 17th with a live broadcast on VH1 that will begin at 10 PM EST.

As in previous years, the Streamy Awards will include a pair of Audience Choice categories–Entertainer of the Year and Show of the Year–as well as dozens of other categories whose winners will be selected by a Blue Ribbon Panel. This year, a total of 44 categories will be represented; new ones include everything from Documentary or Investigative Program to Breakout Creator to a pair of Short Form categories that cover content on Vine, Instagram, and Snapchat.

The live broadcast on VH1 will be the first ever TV presentation of the Streamy Awards; in previous years, the event was only live streamed over the Internet. “The VH1 audience is connected on every platform. So it’s a natural for VH1 to celebrate the innovators who, like us, entertain literally millions of viewers,” said Tom Calderone, President of VH1, in a press release. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with dick clark productions and Tubefilter on amplifying all of the amazing creativity of the past year by presenting the Streamy Awards for the first time ever on television.”

With the broadcast date now set, Dick Clark and Tubefilter are inviting both creators and fans to submit. On the Streamys website, creators can nominate their own work in appropriate categories. At the same time, fans can support the shows and creators that mean the most to them.
