Description: New York City is full of strange, unique, and wonderful artists, and a new web series will look to spotlight a select few of them. Kyle Supley is the creative force behind Kyle Supley’s Out There, which is seeking funds for a series of profiles centered on fun characters within New York’s artistic community.

Supley has plenty of connections to the creative world Out There hopes to dive into. On the series’ campaign page, Supley outlies a few of the characters he hopes to feature, including a blind artist, the “den-mother of NYC drag,” and a Victrola DJ.

Out There will collect stories from its guest stars across a series of short episodes. In his pitch video for the project, Supley describes it as “Billy on the Street meets Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives meets, like, a mod Mr. Rogers.”

Creator Bio: Supley’s own artistic contributions are his photographs, which he often shares on his Instagram account.

Best Perk: Backers who pitch in $250 can receive a palm reading from aforementioned drag queen Flawless Sabrina, who has been a part of the NYC drag scene for more than 50 years.

Why You Should Fund It: Supley has already shared a pilot episode for Out There. In it, he meets with an artists who is re-purposing viewfinders to show how specific areas of the city looked many years in the past.

As you can see, the subjects Supley has chosen are not your typical artists. Instead, the represent a diverse group of thinkers whose offbeat projects seem worthy of viewer attention. Supley himself has quite a bit of charisma, though the show itself exhibits a simple, dressed-down style. It’s a very intriguing project–one that certainly deserves the support it needs.
