Hulu Teams With Freddie Wong, RocketJump, Lionsgate For New Series

Freddie Wong recently wrapped up Video Game High School, but as it turns out, his fans won’t have to wait very long for another web series from the special effects maven. Wong and his team at RocketJump will bring an eight-episode series to Hulu thanks to a deal between Hulu and Lionsgate.

At this point, there aren’t that many details to share about the new series, but a blog post from Hulu does reveal a few tidbits:

“The new Hulu Original will be a half-hour comedy series, with new episodes released weekly. Each episode will chronicle the filmmaking behind RocketJump’s newest short. Eight full episodes will be released exclusively on Hulu and the newly-created shorts will premiere exclusively on Hulu as well.”

RocketJumps’s shorts have become popular on YouTube thanks to their fun, whimsical tone and their dazzling special effects. Along the way, Wong and his team have worked with some significant traditional media stars, including Jimmy Kimmel and Key & Peele.

Wong’s YouTube success led to a deal with Lionsgate in 2014, which in turn led to the Hulu series. The ABC, NBCUniversal, and NewsCorp-owned online video platform previously partnered with Lionsgate for two other series: Deadbeat and Casual.

Hulu has asked users to “stay tuned” for more details about the new series.
