Description: The Juani Begood Show is a series of comedy sketches that hopes to bring new videos to its YouTube channel and website. The “Juani” in the title is Juanita Butler, an Austin-based funnywoman with a feminist streak. Butler and her team of comics have already created several sketches, many of which adopt an intentionally awkward tone. Take, for instance, the group’s most recent release, which features awkward pillow talk and unlikely animal friendships:

Should Juani Begood reach its $3,600 goal, three more sketches will be produced, and each additional $1,200 beyond that will secure the funds needed for another video. Butler and co-star Emmylou Jodoin explain their goals and show off a collage of Juani Begood‘s previous work in their pitch video, which is styled like a TV infomercial:

Creator Bio: Juani Begood represents the most significant creative output Butler has released online. On the show’s website, Butler’s bio explains that “her mish is to empower disenfranchised people to just go do their thing.”

Best Perk: A $500 contribution earns backers one commercial written by Butler. Judging by her previous work, the commercial will be shot in a manner that would make Rhett and Link proud.

Why You Should Fund It: Butler is hoping that, through Juani Begood, she and her team can make content woman will be proud to watch:

“Are you tired of seeing the way women are shown in movies? If you see one more action movie where the female characters are little more than an ass in vinyl, if you see one more scene where “two strippers make out,” are you going to stab yourself in the leg with a pencil? Have you already stabbed yourself and you need to stop the bleeding? Well Donate today! Spread the word! It doesn’t even have to be to this project- find something that speaks to you and then amplify it so others can hear it too.”

Beyond this feminist mission, Juani Begood also has some deliciously awkward vibes to share with its viewers. The show’s previous output is an out-there, unique collection of weirdness, and that’s fine by me. After all, no one ever asked to Keep Austin Normal.
