YouTuber/musician/generally entertaining person Andrew Huang sent off 2014 with a medley of the year’s biggest hits. Unlike other compilations, though, he composed his track with a unique selection of instruments. The Canadian creator played the “Hits of 2014” on ordinary household items, including shoes, cookware, and bottles.
Huang, who is known for his inventive musical creations, previously put together a video where he played “99 Red Balloons” on actual red balloons. This release resembles that one, but Huang cranks it up to eleven. There are red balloons, but also car doors, a bag of kale, and a salt shaker. With this motley assortment of instruments, Huang puts together a compelling medley, which runs through “Bang Bang,” “Happy,” “Shake It Off,” and other significant Top 40 hits of the past year.

Huang’s unusual instrumentation isn’t limited to YouTube. He also recently released an album called Comet, which makes music out of audio samples from the 67P comet. That album can be downloaded from Bandcamp.
