Netflix Releases New Year’s Countdown To Help Parents Put Kids To Bed

Netflix wants to help parents who have young children trick them into thinking it’s 2015 before the new year has actually arrived. The streaming video-on-demand service launched a New Year’s countdown featuring King Julien from its All Hail King Julien animated series.

The three-minute countdown is hosted by King Julien and involves many of his dancing lemur friends from Netflix’s All Hail show which is based on DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar. “Move over, Ryan Seacrest, I’ve got my very own on-demand countdown party on Netflix,” King Julien “said” in a statement to CNN Money.

The short video is available to all Netflix subscribers as of December 29, 2014. Parents can stream the program any time they please, thus allowing them to put their kids to bed on time and still celebrate the New Year with their families.

According to CNN, Netflix conducted a survey and found 34% of parents already trick their kids into thinking it’s midnight before the clock has officially struck twelve. The SVOD site’s King Julien countdown is a way for the service to help parents get their kids to bed, and it also furthers the streaming company’s goal to make more children’s programming available to its subscribers.
