YouTuber Brendan Jordan Models Clothing Line For American Apparel

Brendan Jordan knows how to dance, and apparently, he knows how to model, too. The 15-year-old vlogger, who recently rose to digital stardom after dancing in the background of a local newscast, has become a model for American Apparel.

Jordan became an internet sensation back in October 2014 when he was caught “diva-bombing” with some Lady Gaga-inspired moves behind a news reporter in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. The video (owned by viral video company Jukin Media) now boasts over 3 million views. Jordan’s quick rise to fame has allowed him to appear on The Queen Latifah show, receive a shout-out from Lady Gaga herself, and appear at the December 8 DigiTour event in Las Vegas.

Now, he’s the newest fabulous face in an American Apparel ad campaign. Jordan is seen posing in four different, brightly-colored outfits and providing plenty of attitude (his modeling isn’t too shabby, either.) The full text from the ad’s blurb reads:

Brendan is from Las Vegas, Nevada. He’s half Peruvan (his dad was born and raised in Peru) and he learned Spanish from his extended family that helped care for him. He enjoys taking photos, shopping and collecting Disney memorabilia. In the future Brendan hopes to have his own TV show and design a clothing line. His biggest inspirations are his great grandmother Lucy and Lady Gaga. We were inspired by Brendan after seeing his fearless act of spontaneity and applaud his efforts with the LGBTQ community. His favorite styles of ours include the Clear PVC Circle Skirt and anything high-waisted.

Jordan told The Huffington Post about the photo shoot with American Apparel and discussed how he wanted to push back against society’s expectations by rebelling “in the most artistic way” possible. “We played Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP album the whole time, so I could get into my fiercest mode,” he said. “I remember when I got there I told them I wanted to wear a skirt in one of the shots. Just because I’m a boy, that doesn’t mean I have to wear boy clothes.”

The diva-bombing YouTuber supports “equality, freedom, love, self-acceptance and absolutely no judgment,” and wants his followers to know it’s okay to be themselves. “I think to fully channel absolute fierceness, you must love yourself and be confident,” Jordan said. “You must make the word your own, being fierce means something different for everyone. My definition, for example, stems from Lady Gaga. When I channel my inner fierceness I always remember to put my paws up and walk, walk, fashion baby.”

Jordan joined YouTube in June 2014, but didn’t post his first video until a few weeks after the local news clip went viral. In a video posted later on November 11, the sassy, flamboyant 15-year-old thanks his viewers for bumping up his subscriber count to 20,000. As of this writing, the teen boasts 68,815 YouTube subscribers and 1.8 million views.
