Netflix Teases First Looks, New Suit For Its Marvel ‘Daredevil’ Series

Black is the new red. At least that’s the case for Matt Murdock. The fictional character and alter-ego star of Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series Daredevil will be donning an ensemble different than the superhero’s previous portrayals.

Footage from the show was revealed exclusively to attendees at New York Comic Con on October 11, 2014 and included glimpses of Daredevil’s new garb, as donned by Charlie Cox, who will play the blind vigilante in the program shot in and around Murdock’s hometown of New York City. While new to the passing Daredevil fan, the outfit will look familiar to the comic’s aficionados as it’s inspired by the “Daredevil: Man Without Fear” comic series by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr. Some reporters believe the costume change is Marvel’s attempt to stay as far away as possible from the 2003 flop of a film Daredevil, but the black clothing is likely just a prototype as Murdock begins his journey to superherodom.

In addition to the dark attire, NYCC attendees were also treated to a shot of Cox as Murdock in a grey suit and rose-hued glasses, presumably as he goes about his day job as a lawyer.

Marvel also confirmed Ayelet Zurer, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Bob Gunton, and Toby Leonard Moore will be joining Cox and the rest of the cast for the 13-episode series set to debut in 2015.

Executive produced by Buffy: The Vampire Slayer alumni Steven S. DeKnight and Drew Goddard, Daredevil marks Marvel’s first original series (of many) for Netflix.
